UASA-K SACCO Officially Launched at Meridian Hotel, Nairobi
APBET school directors gathered as the Sacco was formally presented to the association on 13th February 2024.

On 13th February 2024, UASA-K SACCO was formally launched at the Meridian Hotel in Nairobi before a hall of APBET school directors, association officials and invited guests. The launch marked the moment a long-discussed idea became a registered, functioning savings and credit co-operative.
Why a Sacco for APBET schools
Directors of low-cost private schools have long faced the same problem: income arrives in small, seasonal amounts, while salaries, rent and licensing costs arrive every month. Mainstream lenders read that pattern as risk and price it accordingly.
A Sacco owned by the directors themselves changes the conversation. Lending decisions are made by people who understand a school's fee cycle, and the profit stays inside the membership as dividends and interest on deposits.
What was announced at the launch
- A one-off registration fee of Ksh 1,000
- An annual membership subscription of Ksh 3,000
- Monthly contributions through Paybill 400200, account 01134773984500
- Loan access based on a member's savings and contribution history
From launch to today
Since the launch the Sacco has grown its membership across Nairobi and beyond, formalised its governance structures and put in place the reporting cycle that culminated in the 2026 Annual General Meeting.
